The city resides in the Northeast region of the state known as Florida's Historic Coast and is a lesson in history, art and small-town charm. Groups can take in historic sites such as Flagler College, the Lightner Museum and Castillo de San Marcos. Historic hotels, such as the Casa Monica Resort & Spa, offer modern amenities. Coastal Exploration Eco-tourism ranks high in Florida. Everglades National Park encom- passes 1.5 million acres of wet- lands, enabling groups to experience crocodiles, manatees and dolphins in the wild. Tram-tour naturalists guide explorations of the Shark River Slough. Visitors can explore the pinelands by bike, kayak the mangroves of Nine Mile Pond or walk the Anhinga Trail for sightings of turtles, herons and possibly alligators. Florida's Space Coast On the eastern coast of Florida, NASA's Kennedy Space Center offers a rare glimpse into U.S. space explora- tion. The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex at Cape Canaveral is home to exhibits, displays, historic spacecraft, shows and two IMAX theatres. Guided tours of the Rocket Garden provide a close-up look at NASA's Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs, and the Shuttle Launch Experience provides a simulated sensation of blasting off into space. n FLORIDA Coastal Explorations, Old World History & Space! Miles of coastline Florida is best known for its 1,200 miles of coastline and some of the world's highest-ranked beaches. Groups will find uncommon experiences ranging from the relaxing, laid-back atmosphere of the Florida Keys to the Old Florida charm in cities such as Naples and Sarasota. In contrast, the metropolitan offerings of Orlando and Miami deliver fast-paced enter- tainment and nightlife. Casa Monica Resprt & Spa
