The name change reflects a multi-year alliance formed by RP Funding, an Orlando-based mortgage firm and part of the Robert Palmer Companies, the City of Lakeland and the Lake- land Magic. The multi-purpose entertainment complex, offers 100,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space, including the 8,000-seat Jenkins Arena. Home of the Lakeland Magic (NBA D-League), Florida Tropics (Major Arena Soccer League) and the Florida High School Basketball Championships, the arena is also a popular spot for concerts and indoor festivals. This summer the RP Funding Center began a $14.7 million renovation that focuses on two components of the facility. The first leg to the renovation includes a major upgrade to Jenkins Arena complete with a state of the art Meyer Sound system, Daktronics LED ribbon and video boards, and enhancements to the concourse area. The second leg of improvements will begin in February of 2018. This phase of renovations will focus on enhancements and overall refreshment of the event space including the Exhibit Hall and Sikes Hall. These two spaces account for approxi- mately 52,000 square feet of space. An exterior paint application will complete the rebranding of the center and round off the renovations. Additional event space at the RP Funding Center includes the 2,200 seat Youkey Theatre, the 5,000-square-foot Lake Hollingsworth Ballroom, well-suited for banquets and corporate meetings; the 2,000-square-foot Lake Parker Room, ideal for seminars and small banquets; and the Lake Morton Room for small meetings and banquets of up 60 people. Central Florida's convention, sports, lifestyle and entertainment destination, the RP Funding Center is conveniently located minutes between Orlando and Tampa in Lakeland, Florida off I-4.
