Connecting Art & Nature The newly opened Crystal Bridges Museum of Art in Bentonville, Ark., is an artfully designed venue that takes its name from the natural spring that feeds into the museumʼs ponds and from the walking bridges that connect the galleries. Downtown Delights Next year, down- town Birmingham will delight with the opening of a new Westin hotel and entertainment development adjacent to the cityʼs convention center. And look for the Wynfrey Hotel to become a Hyatt Regency. Downtown Redevelopment Construction is set to begin next year on a new convention center hotel in Amarillo, adjacent to the cityʼs Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts. City officials say the project will also include a new parking garage with ground-floor retail and a $30.3-million baseball stadium. Meeting Site Showcase Historic & Not Settling Originally opened in 1930, Hotel Settles has been restored to re- claim its place as the social center of West Texas. This historical Art Deco hotel is wrapping up exten- sive renovations and using the buildingʼs original blueprints and stylish details. Way To Go Waco The New Way To Experience Dallas The New Year is set to com- plete a transformation of the Hyatt Regency Dallas that includes a total makeover of 1,120 guest rooms along with enhancements to the atrium and meeting rooms. Guest rooms offer different options for work and relax- ation, with space for guests to stretch out and view the city. Read more about this hotel on pg. 22 The Waco Convention Center has completed a three year, $17.5 million renovation, increasing the total space to 144,000 square feet. High- lights of the facility include the 32,000-square-foot exhibit hall. Capital Casino Slip, Slide & Schlitterbahn This year brought the opening of the 221-room Schlitterbahn Beach Resort on South Padre Island. Features include family- suites and special access to an outdoor waterpark. R This summer saw the opening of the L'Auberge Baton Rouge Casino and Hotel.
