CENTER OF IT ALL managing them simultaneously." Solutions: "This year I worked with a Ca- nadian company to develop a check in/out app for my meetings. Along with streamlining the arrival and departure process, the app includes venue info, parking info, maps, meeting docu- ments, speaker bios and helpful links. Attendees can post comments and make suggestions right through the app. It's been amazing and so help- ful for each attendee to have this info at their fingertips, especially with it being unique to their event. It's made managing all my events so much easier—and has definitely helped with end user care and customer service." Rewards: "I'm a logistics junkie. I love to study a map and figure out the best place to hold an event. Some locations I have to book blindly and without ever visiting. I like to find the perfect event for the area: which venue is easy to get to from the airport; near major highways but not too hard to find a parking spot? I put myself in the attendees' place and really try to find a facility that is most convenient to my audience. And nothing is more satisfying than realizing my event went off without a hitch and with no major issues!" SUE SABATKE, CMP Meetings Director International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) Madison, WI 21 Years In The Business Providing Access To Experts When planning IDDBA's annual event, which attracts around 10,000 attendees, Sue Sabatke was able to introduce a new element this year. "This event has many components, but the most interesting was the addition of our Expert Neighborhood," she said. "Attendees were able to book 25-minute, one-on-one appointments with leaders in four different business areas. We worked hard to attract high-level experts that attendees would not normally have access to, and the feedback was so positive that we're continuing to offer Expert Neighborhood at our 2018 event." Challenges: "As we plan for future years, uncertainty that the current economic climate can continue to sustain itself is top of mind." Solutions: "In addition to planning for the 'what ifs,' we address the economic uncer- tainty by building strong relationships – mean- ing being honest and up-front with our industry partners." Rewards: "I love looking at the big picture, then creating ways to maximize and enhance the attendee experience." ►
