This task requires knowledge in all phases of event planning and project management, includ- ing contract negotiation, site evaluation and selec- tion, budget management, housing management, food & beverage selection, travel accommoda- tions, agenda planning, registration tools and on- site management. To accomplish all this, Woods brings her back- ground and experience in corporate incentive, event, meeting and conference planning. Sarah Britt, director of sales at the Colum- bia (S.C.) Convention Center (CCC), said that Woods' skills and expertise were essential to the success of the SGA Spring Expo, held at the CCC over three days and involving 950 partici- pants. In addition to this large event, Woods also arranges training sessions, workshops and other major meetings for the association. Challenges: Budget constraints and being asked to do more with no additional staff. Rewards: I love working with different peo- ple of all levels within the industry and hearing about their experiences. Many of the people I've met along the way have become very good friends. n
