THE AT&T HOTEL & CONFERENCE CENTER The Place: Austin, Texas Scheduled Completion Date: January 2018 Expanding Event Space, Adding Art A new year brings new event spaces at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, with 30,000 square feet of additional function space opening in January. With this addition, the facility will have 80,000 square feet of event space and 53 meeting rooms, allowing it to accommodate groups of up to 1,600 participants. Designed by New York-based architecture firm Ennead Architects, the new spaces will feature an abundance of natural light and a wide array of room sizes and lay- out options. The expansion includes the 15,000-square- foot Zlotnik Family Ballroom, a multi-use space for business meetings, conferences, weddings, graduations and social gather- ings. A special feature of this expansion proj- ect is a large mural created for the ballroom's 5,000-square-foot pre-function space. Cre- ated by José Parlá, a Brooklyn-based artist known for his paintings, sculpture, photog- raphy and architectural collaborations, the 4,000-square-foot mural highlights Austin's natural environment and cityscape. Nine additional meeting rooms will be directly connected to the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center by an enclosed walkway. Owned by The University of Texas, The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center is situ- ated between the UT Tower and Texas State Capitol in downtown Austin. The expansion is part of Rowling Hall, which will also house The University of Texas at Austin's McCombs School of Business graduate pro- grams. Along with 297 recently renovated guest rooms, the hotel and conference cen- ter offers three on site dining options and is centrally-located to the city's museums, restaurants, retail, events, festivals and nightlife. Through a collaborative partner- ship with surrounding hotels, known as the Innovation District, the facility has access to 500 additional guest rooms.
