INSIDER'S GUIDE By D. Fran Morley Austin, Texas The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is taking it to the streets, rolling out a new mobile visitors center (pictured lower left). The Austin Airstream, a vintage 1970s Airstream trailer retrofitted for the 21st century, made its debut at this springʼs SXSW, Austinʼs signature South by Southwest music and technology conference and festival. "With some 2,000 award-winning food trailers already part of Austin neigh- borhoods, the Austin Airstream is a fitting addition and a rolling tribute to Austin as the Live Music Capital of the World," said Steve Genovesi, senior vice president of sales for the Austin CVB. "Weʼve done faux trailer park dinner event themes at the conven- tion center, but for groups that want the real thing, we can help arrange events at one or more of the at least two dozen trailer park/eateries around town," he continued. "These offer every possible type of cuisine, and can be a lot of fun for group events." He adds that the city is also like none other due to the great opportunities to enjoy live music. ■ 30 ConventionSouth APRIL 2012 www.con v entionsouth.com
