The white-sand beaches of Northwest Florida are not only where crystal-clear waters meet with a heaping dose of Southern hospitality, they are also teaming with new life these days, offering groups and meeting planners a plethora of op- tions for meetings of all kinds. Just ask Mike Craney with the American Advertis- ing Federation, who noted, "Our delegates had a great time and many were completely amazed by how beautiful our beaches are—and they are from Florida themselves." Northwest Florida includes, from west to east, the cities of Pensacola, Fort Walton Beach and Destin, the Beaches of South Walton and Tallahassee. One of the biggest developments in the region is the debut of the Community Maritime Park in Pensacola this spring, which will offer a ballpark, an amphithe- ater and a public park, and will also be home to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, a Double-A affiliate for the Cincinnati Reds. This development, as well as many oth- ers in the region, is available for groups to enjoy, said Valerie Lento, director of communications for Visit Pensacola. "We provide meeting attendees with the best of both worlds, where business meets pleasure and everything in between." ■ 52 ConventionSouth APRIL 2012 www.con v entionsouth.com
