As the ninth largest city in the country and the Southwestʼs leading business and finan- cial center, Dallas and the surrounding metro area offers planners an unparalleled infra- structure and array of amenities to appeal to groups, including one of the countryʼs largest urban districts right in the heart of downtown, according to Ruben Perez, senior director of sales with the Dallas CVB. "Dallas is also home to fourteen unique entertain- ment neighborhoods in and around downtown, all of which have their own personality and some of the best nightlife and dining in the country," he emphasized. The centerpiece of the cityʼs convention offerings—the Dallas Convention Center—is undergoing a major renovation effort, said Charlotte Allen, marketing and communica- tions manager. The Upper D Area has undergone major construction to feature south, east, and west meeting rooms and prefunction areas. A 19,132-square-foot-ballroom and a glassed overhang multi-media conference room were also added, and adjacent to the D lobby, there is now a connecting skybridge to the new Omni Dallas Hotel, which opened last year. ■ Frisco CVB via Facebook 30 ConventionSouth JULY 2012 www.con v entionsouth.com
