Situated along West Virginia's New River Gorge, the resort boasts more than 1,500 acres where you can enjoy whitewater rafting, kayaking, caving, moun- tain climbing and so much more. The resort even has its own Wonderland Waterpark sure to please kids and adults alike. Handcrafted Food The Vagabond Kitchen in Wheeling serves up a healthy dose of "handcrafted food rooted in local community." Chef Matt Welsch, known as the Vagabond Chef, opened the restaurant last year and features a regionally inspired menu with fresh fare such as the locally sourced pork porterhouse and locally sourced ground beef used in unique burgers, including the Blackout, rubbed in coffee and topped with caramelized onions, wilted spinach and Havarti cheese then drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Save room for dessert with sumptuous choices such as the locally baked espresso cheesecake topped with mocha cream and the house-made sea salt and chocolate chip cookie sandwich. Historic Parks Harpers Ferry National Historical Park has so many picturesque places to take in the sights and photograph what you see. Explore museums and exhibits, hike to overlooks or along Civil War skirmish lines, join a ranger-guided tour or sign up for a living history workshop. Among the many areas of the park to visit, you can explore Bolivar Heights, one of the most import- ant Civil War battlefields in the state, or take a stroll down a farm lane through wooded ravines to see spectacular views of the Shenandoah River at Murphy-Chambers Farm. n West Virginia is wild and wonderful – filled with majestic mountains, vibrant green valleys and invigorating lakes, rivers and streams – and it beckons to those who are looking for adventure amidst untamed beauty. An outdoorsman's – or -woman's – dream, the state encompasses a plethora of national and state parks with activities ranging from extreme outdoor sports such as ATV riding and whitewater rafting to peaceful mountain bike trails for viewing lush forests and wildlife. Take scenic train rides and discover historical sites and museums across the state. Take a candlelight tour of Blennerhassett Island in the fall or hear campfire stories at Twin Falls Resort State Park. City Map Location Page A B C D E F 1 2 3 4 5 Beckley .........................
