Sandy Sgrillo, who has more than 20 years of experience working with and caring for llamas, opened her company, The Wandering Llamas, this past spring, offering treks with llamas. Sgrillo said that hikers lead the gentle animals on the trail, letting the llamas carry everything needed for a relaxing hike in the hills. "All of my hikes are short, from two to three hours, but we can always add something special if a group wants to incorporate a lecture or some other ele- ment," Sgrillo said. "On one trail, there is a nice pavilion that seats about 20 that could be added to the experience." Sgrillo can arrange for special hikes with llamas, including yoga treks, wine and cheese treks or even campouts. The llamas are also available to make appearances for special events.
