Sponsored Content Renovation eeting in the middle of Florida just got better. This summer the RP Funding Center (formerly The Lakeland Center), a popular Central Florida venue for meetings, conventions, and professional sports, began the second phase of a $14 million renovation. The work will illustrate RP Funding Center's core mission to provide meeting planners and their guests with an improved event experience. A fresh take on wall treatments, paint schemes, and new carpeting throughout that coordinates with re-branding efforts are just a few of the planned upgrades. A new state-of-the-art visitor welcome area provided by Visit Central Florida will allow visitors to learn more about area attractions and places to eat. The Exhibit Hall, currently at 28,000 square feet, will be transformed with a new partition that will result in two additional 4,000-square-foot breakout rooms perfect for classroom or ballroom configurations. The renovation is scheduled to be completed December 2018. New Hotel Lakeland/Polk County has a thriving hotel and lodging market to accommodate virtually any budget, with over 2,200 rooms within 2 miles of the RP Funding Center. Construction began on the newest hotel in Lakeland this summer. The Marriott SpringHill Suites will offer approximately 130 all suite rooms, 5,000 square feet of ballroom space, and convenient access to the RP Funding Center. With an expected completion date of late 2019, event attendees will have the option of selecting onsite accommodations from the Marriott SpringHill Suites and the Hyatt Place-Lakeland. More about the RP Funding Center The multi-purpose entertainment complex offers 100,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space, including the 8,000-seat Jenkins Arena. Home of the Lakeland Magic (NBA G-League), Florida Tropics (Major Arena Soccer League) and the Florida High School Basketball Championships, the arena is also a popular spot for concerts and indoor festivals. Additional event space at the RP Funding Center includes the 2,236-seat Youkey Theatre, the 5,000-square-foot Lake Hollingsworth Ballroom; the 2,000-square-foot Lake Parker Room; and the Lake Morton Room for small meetings and banquets.
