"Following eight consecutive years of lodging tax growth, Dalton continues its resurgence which started in 2016," said Brett Huske, director of tourism for the Dalton CVB. "We are now seeing unprecedented growth in the lodging, restaurant and activity sectors. Groups looking for unique venues and great entertainment can now add Dalton to their list of considerations for Georgia." Several new hotel projects are currently underway. A 100-room Holiday Inn Express is scheduled to open in early 2019. An 80-room )DLU¿HOG,QQE\0DUULRWWEURNHJURXQGUHFHQWO\ and construction has begun on the 30-room boutique hotel The Carpentry, located downtown. These lodging additions will bring to 15 the number of hotels in Dalton and the number of hotel rooms to 1,500. The Mill at Crown Garden, a new multipurpose facility established in a historic cotton mill built in 1884, opened this summer as an under-development project. Located just north of downtown Dalton, The Mill at Crown Garden has 4,000 square feet of space under its original glass atrium and ample space for future retailers, restaurants and modestly sized events. Also new, craft brewer Dalton Brewing Company opened downtown, joining other recent food and brew additions such as Cherokee Brewing, Dalton Distillery and Crescent City Tavern. Another new venue that opened this year, Burr Performing Arts Park, has a performance stage RXW¿WWHGIRUVWDJHOLJKWLQJDQGVRXQGHTXLSPHQW and can accommodate food trucks. The one-acre park hosts the Downtown Dalton Summer Music Series.
