Perhaps the biggest news from Valdosta is the expansion of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Conference Center & Tourism Authority's travel and tourism services, with the addition of Tanya Hamel, a dedicated director of group sales who can offer all-around assistance, including customized itineraries for groups of all sizes. Valdosta's hotel room inventory has grown to 4,000 and several smaller event spaces of both the elegant and rustic varieties are available to complement the Rainwater. The Patterson is a decidedly elegant downtown event venue featuring a 5,400-square-foot ballroom, the 6,000-square-foot Loft, a small parlor, two small parlor/suites and stages suitable for live entertainment. The Crescent at Valdosta Garden Center is an elegant neoclassical historic home built in 1898 on the National Register of Historic Places, sitting on beautiful grounds that feature formal gardens, a chapel and a Reception Hall. A rustic – yet also elegant – alternative option is Highgrove Farm, located about nine miles from downtown Valdosta, with its 280-person capacity &KDSHOSHUVRQFDSDFLW\*ODVV6RODULXP 200-person capacity Pond House. The Pond and Horse Farm are located on a 15-acre pecan orchard.
