According to Beth Gendler, vice presi- dent of sales for Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism, the new hotel will have 350 guest rooms and more than 40,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor event space. (See breakout spotlight on page 54 for more details.) Also new are plans for a 229-room mixed-use Embassy Suites by Hilton development on West Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores. The project includes 12,000 square feet of meet- ing space with a ballroom, spa, rooftop pool and event terrace, plus an upscale restaurant. Construction is expected to begin in early 2019 with a target opening of summer 2021.
