Five of the region's resorts made the prestigious list of "Top 150 Resorts" in the mainland U.S. from the Conde Nast Traveler Reader's Choice Awards for 2011. Vickie Corder, manager of global accounts for HelmsBriscoe, finds Naples and Marco Island to be a "sophisticated destination with convenient beach and golf access as well as shopping." She hosted a chairman's annual board meeting for a national foundation in the region that encompassed 135 room nights with 50 attendees. "It was so suc- cessful, they want to go back again next year." Known as "Florida's Paradise Coast," the area includes Naples, Marco Island and the Everglades, extend- ing to the southern tip of the Florida Gulf Coast. The region has witnessed a number of major property enhancements and renovations in recent years, with more planned for 2012. The 297-room Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort and Spa is planning a complete guest room renova- tion for the second half of 2012, according to property spokesperson Lisa Terian. The property offers 12,000 square feet of meeting space, including a large penthouse terrace overlooking the beach. The Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort Golf Club and Spa has been in the midst of a $250 million renovation over the past five years. According to Director of Sales Doug Corbett, a complete update of all rooms will occur this summer. The property also added the Hammock Bay Golf Club in February of this year as its second private golf course. "That gives us two 18-hole golf courses at the highest caliber that provide two totally different experiences for the golf enthusiast," he noted. An expanded pool deck is also now avail- able at the spa to create an adult hideaway with a mineral bath, fire pits, bar and menu. The property houses 727 rooms and 225,000 square feet of meeting space. Located on 125 acres, the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club is Southwest Florida's only beach front resort with an on-site championship golf course. The resort also features 317 newly-renovated rooms, a spa and award-wining tennis center. According to Director of Sales and Marketing Michele Marsee, the prop- erty is undergoing a multi-phase 40 million renovation project that has included a renovation of guest rooms, introduction of a new pool complex, a refurbishment of the 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course and expansion of its Sunset Beach Bar. The property houses 34,000 square feet of meeting space for groups of up to 600.
