To help those in the hospitality industry, Visit Houston, a division of Houston First, the Hotel & Lodging Association of Great- er Houston (HLAGH) and the Greater Houston Restaurant Association (GHRA) joined together to create he Houston Hospitality Employee Relief Fund. "Houston has hospitality in its DNA, and our industry employees are what make Houston the welcoming city that visitors and locals alike have grown to love," said Mike Waterman, president of Visit Houston when the fund was announced on Sept. 15. "As the leaders of the hospitality industry we are compelled to do what's in our hearts and collectively help those, particularly the hourly workers in our industry who have been hurt by Hurricane Harvey. We want to do what we can to make life a little easier for the people who have spent their careers making life better for our guests visiting Houston." n The George R. Brown Convention Center served as a shelter for Houstonians displaced by Hurricane Harvey.
