THE KIMPTON AERTSON HOTEL Nashville, Tennessee Opened June 2017 Located in Nashville's Midtown neighborhood, the new Kimpton Aertson Hotel is designed to offer a hip new social hub for both travelers and locals. The name pays homage to Jan Aertson, a Dutch immigrant whose descendant was Corne- lius Vanderbilt. The boutique hotel's industrial details are elevated by warm, organic design and refined finishes. Entering guests pass a live green wall on the way to an eccentric front desk, created out of hand-knotted, painted rope by artist Orly Genger. An open living room further extends the welcome feeling, offering organic details like poured concrete floors, a curtain of river stones and a double-sided fireplace wrapped in floating ceramic. Along with 180 guest rooms and suites, which have natural light and views of downtown or the Vanderbilt University campus, hotel elements include a seasonal swimming pool and cabanas and a 4,000-square-foot spa. The meeting space, which totals more than 8,600 square feet, includes: The 3,230-square-foot Patterson Ballroom: Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and a large wrap-around private outdoor terrace that provides unobstructed views of downtown Nashville, the space is named after country music pioneer Patsy Cline, born Virginia Patterson Hensley. The 1,000-square-foot Robbins Meeting Room, with large windows overlooking Vander- bilt's campus. Located next to the boardroom, it is named after Hargus "Pig" Robbins, a well- known figure in a local studio group, The A-team. Robbins was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012. The 895-square-foot Adams Meeting Room, named after Jim Reeves, a vocalist with songs topping pop and country charts between 1955 and 1969. Adams is a nod to Reeves' mother's maiden name. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1967. The 650-square-foot Porter Boardroom is named after an early chief recording engineer, Billy Porter. During one week in 1960, 15 of Porter's recordings were listed on Billboard's Top 100. This executive boardroom features a 12-person table and a private terrace with views of downtown Nashville. The Woodlea Rooftop Terrace, an exclusive rooftop space on the 17 th floor, featuring an indoor and outdoor private terrace and 270- degree panoramic views of downtown Nashville. The space is named after the summer home of Margaret Louisa Vanderbilt. n Readers' Choice Award Winners • Abilene CVB, See Ad On Page 61 • The Adolphus • Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council • Austin Convention Center, See Ad On Page 63 • Denison CVB • Destination El Paso • Experience Bryan-College Station • Explore Victoria • Ford Park, See Ad On Page 65 • Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, See Ad On Page 23 • Grand Hyatt San Antonio • Grapevine CVB • Hurst Conference Center • Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa • Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa • Kerrville CVB • La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa • Lakeway Resort & Spa • Longview CVB • Marriott Marquis Houston • McKinney CVB, See Ad On Page 62 • Mesquite CVB • Odessa CVB, See Ad On Page 66 • Omni Austin Hotel Southpark • Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa • Overton Hotel & Conference Center • Royal Sonesta Houston, See Ad On Page 67 • The San Luis Resort, Spa & Conference Center • San Marcos CVB • Seguin CVB • Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel • Sonesta Bee Cave Austin • South Padre Island CVB • Visit Lubbock, the CVB, See Ad On Page 69 • Visit San Antonio • VisitDallas • VisitMidland • Wichita Falls CVB • The Woodlands CVB, See Ad On Page 68 Honorable Mention Award Winners • Galveston Island Convention Center at The San Luis Resort • Hilton Americas Houston • Hilton Galveston Island Resort • Hilton Waco • Westin Houston Downtown New & Renovated Award Winners • AT&T Hotel & Conference Center • The Barnhill Center • Hotel Alessandra Houston • Hotel Valencia Riverwalk • Hotel ZaZa Houston Memorial City • Le Méridien Houston Downtown • Plano Event Center • San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk • The Whitehall Houston Texas Photos courtesy of Laure Joliet Ballroom at The Kimpton Aertson Hotel "Living Room" lobby at Kimpton Aertson Hotel
