The Fort Smith Convention Center offers 40,000 sq. ft. of flexible space in a city where families can relive a history that inspired True Grit, explore a diverse and protected landscape, discover an incredibly unique art scene, and make memories that are cherished. g 800-637-1477 FORT SMITH CVB MEETINFORTSMITH.COM @ EXPERIENCEFORTSMITH The Greensboro Coliseum Complex hosts a multitude of entertainment events, including family performances, sporting events and tournaments, symphony and opera performances, consumer shows and popular music concerts, according to Ava Pope, director of sales for the Greensboro Area CVB. "The Coliseum Complex is one of the largest in the nation, and the management staff has also have put the facility on the leading edge of technology convenience," Pope said. "There is a seating capacity of 22,000 in the arena and, with a downsizing curtain, seating capacity can be as low as 4,500. The 120,000-square-foot Special Events Center can be portioned into four separate halls, leaving 60,000 square feet for exhibits and a 5,000-square-foot general seating setup for group sessions or entertainment. The Fieldhouse is a newly renovated, state-of-the-art facility that is home of the Charlotte Hornets' NBA D-League franchise, the Greensboro Swarm. In addition, she said, "The Fieldhouse features 30,000 square feet of column-free area along with 8,500 square feet of support space that includes locker rooms, dressing rooms and its own box office. The terrace is a 12,900-square-foot banquet facility located adjacent to the Coliseum. This 3-level column-free space is ideal for hosting speaking engagements, hospitality functions and upscale dining events in a luxurious, richly decorated setting." Celebrating the foodie and spirits revolution happening in Greensboro, the venue incorporates local foods and local distributors' products into its offerings for attendees. "We offer a great foodie and craft beer scene along with a distillery in downtown. We have many family friendly at- tractions along with some amazing trails and gardens. Shopping is another element where we offer some unique spots," Pope said. Besides the Coliseum, Greensboro is also home to the Sheraton Greens- boro at Four Seasons and Koury Convention Center. "A meeting plan- ner's dream is how many refer to the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel," she said. "With 985 renovated guest rooms and 250,000 square feet of meet- ing space all under one roof, all the elements are in place for the perfect conference setting." The A.M.E. Zion General Conference was held there in 2016. "The center was a perfect fit. Everything was held under one roof and was conducive to the group's needs. It's convenient for attendees to get to and they have a good relationship with staff," Pope said. n It's a lot easier to design a new, eco-friendly convention center than it is to alter an existing venue in order to meet the rigorous standards for earning LEED certification, much less to become a Gold-certified convention center. However, Virginia Beach is one destination that has elevated its green status by doing just that. "The Virginia Beach Convention Center is the nation's first convention center to earn LEED Gold certification as an existing building from the U.S. Green Building Council," said Charli Sharp, director of public relations for the Virginia Beach CVB. "The eco-friendly, state-of-the-art building has more than 150,000 square feet of column-free exhibit space, near- ly 29,000 square feet of meeting space, more than 31,000 square feet of ballroom space and 2,230 free parking spaces." n A "Green" Transformation The Virginia Beach Convention Center, Virginia Beach, Virginia A Hot Spot For Sports & Entertainment The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, Greensboro, North Carolina
