The 150-room Norman Hotel has 7,000 square feet of function space. Oklahoma City Big things are happening in Oklahoma City, with new hotels and the summer 2018 groundbreaking for a convention center, expected to open in 2020. The $287 million center is expected to have 200,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 35,000-square-foot ballroom and 50,000 square feet of additional meeting and event space. Directly adjacent will be a new 17-story, 605- room Omni Hotel and both properties will share space with the planned 70-acre Scissortail Park (to be completed in stages). The area will also include a row of retail with restaurants, a coffee shop, a sports bar and shopping, all part of the city's "Core to Shore" plan to connect the heart of downtown with the riverfront, according to Visit OKC. In addition, the new park, convention center and Omni hotel will be linked to down- town attractions by a new six-mile streetcar line, expected to be operational by November 2018. The city continues to add to its lodging inventory with a number of new hotels now open or set to open in the next 18 months, according to the CVB. In the popular Bricktown Entertainment District, a 142-room AC Hotel (with small meeting space) is now open and a 134-room Hyatt Place and 138-room Staybridge Suites open this spring. Tru by Hilton opened its first-ever brand in Oklahoma City in June 2017 with 86 rooms. Just a few minutes walk from Bricktown, the multipurpose Cox Convention Center includes a 15,000-seat arena, 100,000-square-foot exhibit hall, 25,000-square-foot ballroom and 28,000 square feet of meeting space. The center connects by skybridge to the 311-room Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel. (See breakout spotlight on page 53.) Located in the heart of the city's business district and dating from 1911, the historic Skirvin Hilton Hotel offers 255 guest rooms and 18,500 square feet of meeting and event space with two ballrooms, three board rooms, three event rooms and a variety of pre-function spaces. Another unique property is the city's 21c Museum Hotel, which Travel + Leisure magazine named one of the world's best new hotels for 2017. The hotel has more than 14,000 square feet of unique exhibition space available for meetings and events. "Enid sits at the crossroads to two major events in the development of the West: The Chisholm Trail and the Cherokee Strip Land Run of 1893, which is the largest competitive event in U.S. history with over 100,000 land-hungry pioneers racing for 40,000 plots of free land. Meetings at the Central National Bank Center or Enid Symphony Center put you in the heart of Enid's Arts and Entertainment District, one of only seven Certified Cultural Districts in Oklahoma. You will be within walking distance of a dozen locally owned restaurants, hometown shopping and a public art walk." Central National Bank Center (formerly the Enid Event Center and Convention Hall) includes two ballrooms, a 31,500-square-foot exhibit hall and 5,500 square feet of meeting space. The Enid Symphony Center has two performance halls, meetings rooms and can seat up to 150 for banquets. The Chisholm Trail Expo Center has coliseum seating for up to 9,000. SpringHill Suites Enid has two event rooms totaling 4,032 square feet. Stillwater Combining the charm of a bustling college town with big-city amenities, Stillwater offers planners great variety in venues and after- hours entertainment options. According to Visit Stillwater, OSU Meeting & Conference Services at Oklahoma State University offers versatile venues including both the OSU Student Union and the Wes Watkins Center, with more than 40 rooms.
