Anchored on one end of the event lawn, The Gates' signature food truck, The Blind Pig, serves a tapas- style selection of "conch fusion." Behind the pool, a beach area serves as a quiet and relaxing retreat that is open to the public and accessible from the event lawn. The Gates Hotel Key West has 100 guest rooms and the Rodriguez Lounge for small group gatherings while 24 North has 145 guest rooms and small indoor event spaces. Both are part of The Keys Collection, which also features Hilton Garden Inn Key West / The Keys Collection and Fairfield Inn & Suites Key West at The Keys Collection. Georgia Revamp Under Way SAVANNAH — A major renovation is underway at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront, which includes a redesign and refurbishing of all 387 guest rooms and public spaces. According to Director of Sales and Marketing Jody McIntyre, the guest rooms have been transformed into areas of discovery, relaxation and productivity rather than merely places to simply rest. "As Savannah's only Marriott hotel located on the river, this multi-phase renovation is intended to re-energize hotel appeal to locals as well as those visiting both for business and leisure," she said. "By updating technology, modernizing amenities and refining our design, we hope to emulate the sophistication that is Savannah while reinventing a city classic." The renovations extend to the Great Room Bar & Restaurant, the 40,000 square feet of event space and lower lobby. North Carolina New Convention District Hotel WILMINGTON — The new full-service Embassy Suites by Hilton Wilmington Riverfront Hotel opened in early 2018 and is located adjacent to the Wilmington Convention Center, offering a convenient accommodation option for meeting and convention attendees. "The new Embassy Suites will allow us to satisfy the demand for larger groups in the downtown River District area and in onsite accommodations from a wider variety of groups and conventions," said Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo. The property features 186 two- room guest suites, 6,600 square feet of meeting space, an indoor pool and fitness center, a snack/coffee area and an atrium with seating, as well as a ballroom and pre-function space. The second floor includes a riverfront restaurant, boardroom and three small meeting spaces. Wilmington's Convention District, located on the riverfront and within the city's walkable River District, is anchored by the Wilmington Convention Center, the largest convention center on North Carolina's coast. "Wilmington's riverfront is transforming and attracting some exciting additions we will see come to life in 2018 and beyond," said Kim Hufham, president and CEO of the Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). Tennessee Spa Design Concept Unveiled NASHVILLE — JW Marriott Nashville recently revealed details for its state-of-the-art Spa by JW. Conceptualized by design firm Stonehill & Taylor, the 4,000-square-foot facility will feature five private treatment rooms when it opens in Summer 2018. Interiors were designed to create an environment that is welcoming and calming. Warm and organic materials, such as blonde wood and bronze accents, are coupled with residential features, such as fireplaces and plush seating, to create an ethereal atmosphere. Situated on the third floor, next to the 10,000-square-foot rooftop pool deck, The Spa is bathed in natural light from the space's floor- to-ceiling windows. Elegant steel, stone and glass details embody the industry, which gracefully contrast the muted, natural color palette. Located downtown, adjacent to the Music City Center, the 33-story property will offer 533 guestrooms, 50,000 square feet of indoor function space, including a 15,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom, a 33rd-floor rooftop bar and Michael Mina's Bourbon Steak. n New Event Venue NASHVILLE — Midtown's 180-room Kimpton Aertson Hotel recently completed its 17th-floor indoor and outdoor event venue, Woodlea. The nearly 4,500-square-foot rooftop space showcases 270-degree panoramic views of downtown Nashville and Vanderbilt's campus. Events hosted at Woodlea, which can accommodate up to 150 guests, feature personalized, chef-driven catering menus from James Beard Award-winning RJ Cooper, executive chef of Henley. This addition brings the property's meeting and event space to more than 10,000 square feet, which includes the 3,200-square-foot Patterson Ballroom, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a large wrap- around private outdoor terrace. "We couldn't be more thrilled to now offer this exclusive skyline space in addition to our existing meeting and event amenities on the eighth floor," said Director of Sales and Marketing Chantelle Nikkel. "From the tailored, chef-driven menus to the unobstructed views of downtown, we offer something special and authentic for planners and attendees." n
