More than half (57 percent) of those responding to our annual survey said they sometimes book meetings and events at a destination they have used previously, and 43 percent indicated that they often return to a place they have previously booked. When asked the main reasons why they would go back to a destination or specific property, all of the respondents cited cost as a significant fac- tor, but relationships with staff were also con- sidered to be important by nearly 86 percent of the respondents, tying with convenience. Additionally, amenities were cited as important by 71 percent of the planners responding. Looking at the question from the perspective of destination officials, 57 percent of CVB and hotel professionals said that between 31 and 50 percent of their clients provide repeat business. Another 21 percent gave an even stronger re- sponse, indicating that 51 to 75 percent of their clients provide repeat business. However, a significant majority of destination officials (86 percent) said that developing good relation- ships between destination staff and planners is the best way to attract repeat business.
